Person tabbed Track Performer of the Week

2015 Apr 13

Cornell senior sprinter Tynisha Person of Fredericksburg has been named Midwest Conference Women's Outdoor Track Performer of the Week for the period ending April 5.

Person claimed four events titles (100, 200, long jump, 4x400 relay) and took runner-up in another (4x100) as the Ram women scored a meet-best 201 points at Saturday's Cornell Invitational at Ash Park Stadium.

Person is the sixth MWC Performer of the Week for head coach Dan Schofer's women's team in 2015.

Person recorded top-five MWC outdoor marks in all four events she won on her home track. She clocked the conference's second-quickest time in the 100 (12.98) and third-fastest in the 200 (26.68).

Person anchored the 4x400 relay of Sam Martinez (JR/Bowie, Texas), Deidre Franzen(JR/Denver, Iowa) and Libby Schnoor (FR/Camanche, Iowa) to victory in 4:13.50, the second-best mark in the MWC. Person added a title in the long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 10.5 inches.

Person also was part of the 4x100 relay that placed second in 51.69.

The Ram women registered eight event titles and beat runner-up Coe by 13 points for the team crown.
